Feeling patriotic? These handmade British laces will put a spring in your step.

Shoelaces made in Britain? Sounds too good to be true doesn't it? Well, Maldon based firm, The Original Laces Company makes laces to the most exacting standards. You can choose any colour and length you want and within a couple days laces will be delivered to you. The laces are made from a mixture of materials including waxed cotton, polycotton and striped grosgrain as shown here. They're metal tipped with embossed aglets to give them a premium finish. Very stylish.

Since its foundation in 2014, customers include Osprey, Ted Baker and COES Menswear who helped support the business from its modest foundation in 2014. Production is currently from the green wooden garden shed of the owner, Ian Bates. Bates has a background in product and packaging design and launching businesses and then selling them. "I love coloured, quality laces and because I could not buy what I wanted, I decided to make my own and one thing led to another" - remarked Bates.

Made-to-measure laces are available 24-7 in a range of colours and stripes from their webshop www.original-laces.co.uk
